Connect with your neighbors

The smallest, most overlooked piece of citizen infrastructure is also the first: simply knowing the people who live around you. These tools help you make the introduction and start small acts of mutual care — the spirit of relational tech.

  • Relational Tech Studio (Relational Technology Project) — a chat-driven tool that helps you start a neighbour tool of your own. You tell it about your street and its needs, and it helps you remix an existing example into something for your block (often in minutes), with a build plan to follow. It draws on a shared commons of hundreds of real neighbouring projects.
  • Community Supplies — a free, open-source app for neighbours to share tools, supplies, and party gear instead of everyone buying their own. Start one for your street, or join an existing sharing community. (See the Story.)
  • Neighbor-gathering microgrants (Relational Tech Project & Connective Tissue) — small grants (around $100) that act as “a permission slip to invite your neighbours” — enough to cover the coffee, donuts, or flyers for a first gathering.

A surprising amount starts with something as simple as a flyer and a pot of coffee in a driveway — see The Outer Sunset.

More tools will be added here over time. Know one that belongs? Use the “Edit page” link below.
